In December 2024, the hallowed grounds of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy campus in Thiruvananthapuram witnessed a unique gathering. Forty aspiring filmmakers, fueled by a singular passion, came together to unravel the magic behind the silver screen. From the nuances of screenwriting and cinematography to the intricacies of editing, dubbing, and direction, we immersed ourselves in this craft. Guided by the wisdom of veteran pioneers and mentored by contemporary masters of Malayalam cinema, our journey began.
A Visionary Foundation
Out of this shared experience, a unique collective was born: the Satyajit Ray Film Labour Society.
While many focus only on the spotlight, our society stands on a revolutionary pillar—the belief that from the light boy to the director, every individual is an equal architect of cinema. This inclusive philosophy of bringing the entire film fraternity under one umbrella is what sets us apart.
Our Journey & Mission
Officially registered in early 2025, with its headquarters in Thrissur, the society has already hit the ground running. Our mission is vast and multifaceted:
Production & Distribution: Creating and sharing meaningful cinematic content.
Education:
Organizing intensive workshops in acting and direction (with two successful sessions already completed).
Promotion: Hosting short film festivals and award nights to recognize emerging talent.
Collaboration: Undertaking government advertisements and commercial projects.
